I've been an avid amateur photographer since I was around 13 years old. My recent investment in a highly capable Digital SLR around six months ago and my use of the Flickr photo sharing website have proven to be powerful methods of sharing images. The saying goes "A picture is worth a thousand words", for me I'd prefer to take photos than write anytime.
Back when I started photography in Junior High School (Middle School), you would go out take photos, develop the film, blow up the images on an enlarger then develop the photo paper (there were always many adolescent jokes about developer in the darkroom). Then share your photos with your teacher and classmates. If you have something worth sharing, perhaps it would be published in the school paper or it would be posted on a public bulletin board.
Take your shot and upload it to the Internet. Now the whole world can see your photos and make comments.
With so many shutterbugs out in the world, any event big or small has many photographs. For example, this last Tuesday there was a fire in the Los Angeles Griffith Park. Would you like to see photos of the event? Use the "tag" griffithparkfire in Flickr and look at all the photos taken of the Griffith Park Fire here.
Use any tag or word that represents an event, place or thing and you're likely to find hundreds if not thousands of photos to browse.
