Greening the Earth Day Festival, Saturday, April 21, 2007, Time: 10:00 AM, The 6th annual festival features exhibits, entertainment, organic food, community gardens, workshops and activities. The festival spans from Memorial Park to the Armory Center for the Arts and includes a street festival on Raymond Avenue between Walnut and Holly. Held in conjunction this year with the Armory Center Family Festival. Family Festival: Norton Simon Museum, Saturday, April 21, 2007, 1 p.m. Capture the spirit of Earth Day by looking at paintings by 20th-century artists, then create a Cubist-inspired collage using cast-off materials in a workshop led by the organization Trash 4 Teaching. Shakespeare Festival: Huntington Library, Saturday, April 21, 2007, 10:30 a.m. All the world really is a stage as actors from Shakespeare at Play and the Guild of St. George perform scenes from the Bards comedies and tragedies in different settings throughout the gardens. The day long festival will include key scenes from The Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Hamlet, The Comedy of Errors, and many more. 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino. Butterfly Release: Kidspace Museum, Saturday, April 21, 2007, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Celebrate the beauty of butterflies and nature as we release Painted Lady butterflies reared in our Nature Exchange Nursery into the gardens of Kidspace. The Grand Butterfly Release features Flutter-By the Butterfly, as she helps children create their own butterfly wings, teaches them the Pupa Freeze Dance, and How to Eat like a Caterpillar. The 9th Annual Pavilion of Wings takes flight is open until September 3, 2007! Enter a world of free-flying butterflies in this enclosed, lush habitat. More than 30 species — including giant swallowtails, monarchs and the American Painted Lady — flutter throughout the grounds. Separate admission ticketing applies. Members receive FREE tickets. The Pavilion of Wings is made possible in part by support from Macy’s.
FYI - the Natural History Museum (and the Pavillion of Wings) is closed today, Saturday April 21.
